Good evening folks,
Summertime is here, and we started with a corker today.
What does this mean? Clock have changed, so yes, technically we had a 47 hour weekend and have been deprived of one hour of sleep. On the upside we will have a 49 hour weekend in 6 months time, but more importantly we now have 6 months of longer, lighter evenings, and more opportunity to do some really fun and interesting evening walks at familiar and new locations.
Today was a wonderous day visiting Crosby and the Another Place Iron Men statues for our Adventure Walk. We had a wonderful group and such fantastic weather. From all the pictures and comments the walk will create significantly positive and lasting memories for so many people…and that is what it is all about here at Nordic Walking Preston. Growing older together, fitter, healthier, happier.
Please feel free to take a look at the photo album on the Nordic Walking Preston Facebook page. It is possible to click and look even if you do not have a Facebook account.
Thanks to the whole Team for great organisation and delivery, our cake bakers, to Janette and David for coming down to meet us with refreshments, the kids for being so well-behaved, our Nordic Weather God for looking after us, and all our walkers for a fun, family day out.
Heads up for this week. It’s half term for many, and so this week on Wednesday Helen, Di, and Vicki will be walking the Guild Wheel to train the body, mind and feet on extended duration walking in preparation for the Dales 27 miler. Lenka and I will be joining them too for part of the route. If you would like to join them for a section of the walk then please contact either of them privately, or in the 1000 Friends Facebook group, or ping me an email.
Tomorrow evening, seeing as the night will be lighter and brighter we will start from Botany Bay for a new route from a new location. Monday nights are going to get interesting as we explore the wider reaches around Chorley.
Friday is Good Friday and so for all you Easter bunnies out there we will take in a nice route via Fishwick Bottoms, the Guild Wheel and the Ribble Way, possibly seeing some real bunnies en route. We shall then either go to Starbys, Waitrose cafe or the Yew Tree, whichever takes your fancy.
Here are your walks for this week:
Monday 18:45 – Chorley Wanderer – Botany Bay
Tuesday 6:30 – Rising Stars – Moor Park Central
Tuesday 18:30 – Buckshaw Roamer – Buckshaw Tesco car park
Wednesday 18:15 – Evening Workout Walk – Haslam Park
Friday 9:30am – Matt’s Friday Roamer – Boulevard
Saturday 9:15 am – Rise and Shine – Avenham Park
Have a fantastic week. All the best.
