I hope you’ve had a great week.
I am happy and sad, both at the same time. I am happy that my family has gone to the Czech Republic to visit friends and family. I am alone, but happy that I have space to do piled up tasks around the house and business. I am sad that my family are not with me here and that I am not sharing important moments with them there. But I am not sad that I am alone, and I am not lonely. This comes from a conversation Johnny and I had over Whatsapp the other night about happiness and loneliness.
This is life. Happy and sad. Both at the same time. Both lasting. Both temporary. Both equally possible. All emotions to be embraced and utilised.
I am therefore happy and sad that I will be going to the Czech Republic on the 19th to be with my family and friends from over there. Happy that I will be seeing them, happy that I will be having a welcome break from home, business, and the UK, but equally sad that I shall not be walking with you, that I will be away from my home, and my regular nordic walking.
Some people strive for happiness, to avoid sadness. There are many ways people do this, often seeking out short-term fixes, whether that be from food, or alcohol, or shopping purchases, or otherwise.
I feel that is something we can be channeled into by virtue of societal pressures around us, and our upbringing. We buy into stories that someone tells us, or we begin to tell ourselves.
If you ever feel like this, try and take a different perspective. Ask yourself the question “Can I be happy right now, even though I am also sad?”
Can you change your own story ?
Every minute of every day provides you with that opportunity to rewrite your story.
Another successful Invitation walk took place at Avenham Park, yesterday. Thanks to all those involved. Some really great feedback and personal realisations from those involved. Most are eager to join next week’s LTNW course and come and join in the fun of walking with you.
Learn To Nordic Walk
We have our next course coming up soon. Please feel free to share or invite people to join us.
Saturday 11th August at Avenham Park 11am
Our next Adventure Walk is Whalley
Andy and Sue have a few updates.
Sue will unfortunately not be able to participate in the walk owing to knee trouble and following the advice of her Physio. However, if you are also challenged with your knees or otherwise but would still like to meet the group Sue has suggested that she will come along and go for a cuppa and walk around Whalley.
The route itself has quite a climb and the distance is 14km, so it will be reasonably challenging. If you have any questions or concerns about joining this Adventure walk please call Matt ASAP.
The new details are LIVE so please check them out here and book yourself on.
Gentle reminder to book your place for Kielder Forest Adventure walk in September
We are almost at 20 participants for this walk already, however, we NEED a few more of you to commit to joining us to make hiring a minibus as cost-effective as possible.
September 23rd – Kielder Forest. Book your place here.
Would you like one of our purple Stronger Together T-shirts?
An order will be placed at the beginning of September, but we kindly ask you for your expression of interest NOW, so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
We are also looking at producing a short-sleeve version and a long-sleeve version of the NWP T-shirts as there have been expressions of interest for both types from several members.
Whatever the reason please contact Di Duckworth to place your order and size.
Di shall collect the orders and then we shall place a bulk order with our supplier so that you have them before the Autumn eventing season commences (think Preston 10k, Autumn Breaker and the like).
