here we are, at the last weekend of January already. Its been an epic month, and I feel blessed to have ended the month with our Adventure walk today (more below on that).
Many people tell me that they feel blue during the winter months, and find it especially tough in January. Many others jump on diets and new regimes come New Year, only to find themselves falling back into old habits and patterns even within a couple of weeks. Many others give up sugar, or alcohol, or caffeine, or bread for the month of January to kick-start some new health drive…yet again.
January has probably been the busiest month of my life due to work and family commitments. Yet simultaneously it has been one of the best, most rewarding and happiest months of my life. There are countless reasons why, but two things stand head and tall above the rest.
- I go to bed each evening setting my intention for the next day to be the best of my life
- I get outside and go walking (almost) every day, mostly Nordic walking, of course. And even if I don’t actually get outside at some point I will be visualising getting outdoors, or will be reminiscing about something beautiful I have seen, or something amazing I have experienced, or some wonderful people I have met in the great outdoors
It is THAT simple. And it has completely changed my life…for the better. If you are not doing this yet, then please give it a try and let me know how you get on.
Being outdoors with fabulous people and having a jolly good time was something I was able to experience today on our Rivington Pike Adventure walk. If you missed it then here is a link to our Nordic Walking Preston Business Facebook Page Rivington Pike Adventure Walk photo album with photos courtesy of Di Duckworth, Liz McGrath, Andy Harrison and Matt. Special thanks to the NWP Team for all their efforts in planning, organising and delivering this great day out.
Please note the first snowdrops amongst the many wonderful pictures of the scenery, the terrain, the walkers, the buildings and the cakes.
Our next Adventure walk is at the end of February. It was originally planned to coincide with the 10k events at Stanley Park in Blackpool, but recent reccies have shown that the route holds a lot of water and so the Walk Leaders will announce a new destination this week. If you would like to join us regardless of location we can assure you that you will have a great time.
Keen to join one of these Adventure walks but still not learnt the proper technique – well we have two options for Learn To Nordic Walk courses coming up and we would encourage you to attend one of them.
I wish you a wonderful week ahead.
Here are your walks for this week:
Monday 18:45 Chorley Wanderer – Astley Park
Tuesday 18:30 Buckshaw Roamer – Buckshaw Tesco car park
Wednesday 18:15 – Evening Workout Walk – Haslam Park
Friday 9:30am – Matt’s Friday Roamer – Longsands
Saturday 9:15 am – Rise and Shine – Avenham Park
Have a fantastic week. All the best.
