NWP News 06/10/2019

Good evening folks,

trust you’ve had a good week.

As we are approaching the latter end of the year please begin to take stock of your year as the nights draw in.

Have a little think about all the walks you have attended this year. If you don’t have wearble tech that tots it up for you why don’t you have a think about the miles you must have walked this year.

Keeping regularly active, moving the muscles and joints of your body (even the facial ones, smiling and chatting away) is really beneficial for your health, fitness, wellbeing and longevity.

Give yourselves a high five or a pat on the back for your achievements to date this year.

It’s October and the team have decided it’s about time we had another social outing.

As a leadership team, what with our work and family commitments around the time we spend planning and organising walks and activities for our group, we are finding it increasingly difficult to sync our own diaries so we can all attend all events.

Such is life.

We shall therefore aim to rotate times and days of socials to meet ours and your busy schedules. Please note it is often the retirees who have the busier diaries than us workers !

So, please make note of our October Social Evening. This will take place on Monday 28th October at The Hunters, Walton-le-dale.

Our Monday evening walk shall commence at the usual time of 6:45 pm from the Hunters, on this occasion, and we shall be back in the pub/restaurant by 8pm latest after a brisk walk.

We shall then grab a drink, and join those who haven’t walked but have already arrived to socialise.

On Monday nights The Hunters currently have a special offer of 50% off the Hunters Famous Swords. Choose from Chick and Chorizo sword, Steak sword or Halloumi sword.

Please note: Orders must be placed before 9pm to take advantage of the offer.

Please book on this Special Event to let us know of your intention to join us at the Hunters. Also book on the walk itself if you intend to walk.

Pendle Adventure Walk

Attention Avid Adventurers …
Pendle Hill Adventure walk was planned for October due to the obvious link to Halloween and the Pendle Witches.
Christine and Angela recently completed a recce of the route, however there are lots of boggy areas due to the immense level of rain that we have recently had. There are also lots of rocky areas and a few slippy areas.
We’ve had numerous discussions within the NWP social group about postponing the walk of swapping the venue to another area.
The outcome of all the discussion is …. BRING ON THE HARDY ADVENTURERS!!!
If you want a challenge then Christine Lomas, Matthew Gibbs, Stephanie Donaldson and Angela plan to be there to support you.

Some of the other leaders are completing in the rescheduled Preston 10k that day.

If you are joining us then you will need the right gear, inc waterproof jackets (and potentially trousers).

Definitely BOOTS. Ideally gators and/or waterproof socks … oh and a sense of humour and determination.

In return we will give you a day you won’t forget and (weather dependent) one of the most wonderful 360° views in the area.

Meeting location: BB7 9HN

Please note that there is limited parking.

Please therefore contact Angela for access to the WhatsApp messenger group, and/or meeting up or car sharing details.
