Matt’s Splits Challenge
After spending a considerable amount of time focusing on other important things I have decided it is now time to refocus some energy on my own personal self again.
I have a history of poor mobility in my legs, and historically I did little stretching. There is plenty of contradictory information out there about static and dynamic stretching and so it’s not an easy thing to know what is the right thing to do. However, for quite a long time now I have been having thoughts come up that I need to become more flexible in the hips.
Parallel to this I have noticed for quite some time an increasing prevalence of weakness in the ankles, and various aches, pains, and muscle spasms across my back and up my legs.
It can be disheartening, frustrating, painful, and confusing to deal with such matters, and it can often lead one to chase the pain around the body, perhaps even by seeing various specialist practitioners as part of the “search and find” exploration journey.
However, my professional studies lead me to believe there is a simple solution, namely to right an imbalance – and that being to improve my range of movement, flexibility and strength around my hips.
I am therefore in the early preparatory phase of starting a 30-day splits program throughout September.
I’ll share more about my experience and findings throughout the month of September.
