hope you’re enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend.


Garstang Walking Festival

Today our family quartet met my parents in Calder Vale and enjoyed a short walk under guidance from Wyre Borough Council Rangers. This was the Bluebell Teas walk and we ended up at the Village Hall for a cuppa and cake (very good locally made cakes – Grandma style). Quite an impressive display of bluebells in the woodland area.

A very nice area and one we may consider for a longer Friday or Saturday walk.

If you fancy visiting the Bluebell Teas walk they are on at 11am every Sunday through May. Proceeds from the sale of drinks and cakes go to local charities and kids activity groups.

Visit the Garstang Walking Festival site for other walks too. Colleague Ann from Nordic Walking Wyre is leading one or two Nordic walks too.


Workplace Wellbeing Event

Please note that this Thursday 4-7pm Nordic Walking Preston will have a stand at this event run in cooperation with The Balance Approach and Chorley Council.

Companies interested in the wellbeing of their staff are being encouraged to attend.

If you know of any company in the wider Chorley area who might benefit from learning about this event then please kindly share the details with them.

If you book yourself directly with the Mandala Centre a single one-hour float will cost you £35.

If you are a monthly member of Nordic Walking Preston you can access a float for ONLY £20 (almost half price).

If you are a Freedom Passport holder registered with Nordic Walking Preston (but not yet a monthly member) we are happy to offer you a float at £25 (still an amazing saving of £10 per float).

Please note that in addition to these discounts we shall also be arranging an open evening at the Mandala Centre where Paul (new owner of Mandala Centre) and Matt will be sharing useful information, tips and experience about a holistic approach to improving health and wellbeing. This will also provide you an opportunity to see the Float pods, and there may even be some 15 minute taster sessions available. Further details coming soon.


Walk the Guild Wheel with Walk Leader Di

This is an “unofficial” walk and hence it is not on the system. Please contact Di if you fancy joining her group of merry walkers who have already committed to this full day event on Monday 13th May.

It is a challenge to walk 21 miles, but you have all day and there are several stopping points en route. You can even choose to walk only part of the route should you have someone to drop you in on the group part way round. It is a great feeling of accomplishment though to be able to say that you have walked around the perimeter of the city of Preston.


MAY is National Walking Month

We have launched our own challenge for May.

Using the hashtag #walkamileadayinmay we are encouraging you and others to become more consistently active throughout May.

If there is not a scheduled walk or other reason to be walking about it can be quite easy not to get a lot of steps in.

Inspire yourself and get out in the morning, or at lunchtime, or after your evening meal and get the mile under your belt.

Bank Holiday Monday

Join Matt on Bank Holiday Monday with a walk right over the Nab. Plenty booked on already, so get yourselves booked on and come and join us.


Tuesday Special

Sue and Andy are exploring the opportunity of launching a regular Tuesday evening walk.

These will likely commence 6:30 pm or later and will generally start in the area of the Asda on Eastway in Fulwood offering various walk routes into the country side.
